Richard took over the business in 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the running of both stores. He spends time at both stores most days, but also enjoys getting out on the road to do measures and installations.

Prior to owning the business, Richard spent 11 years working in Commercial Construction in Auckland and Papua New Guinea.

The Bay of Islands is now firmly home, and what gets Richard out of bed every morning is the privilege of living in this paradise and dealing with the awesome community who also call this place home.

Renée is co-owner of the business and assists with advertising and marketing.

You may occasionally see her in store or making the odd delivery, but she spends most of her time looking after her and Richard’s three young children and their dog, Lola.

Renée loves the Bay of Islands and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

Jo has been with the business since 1997 and previously worked in a number of retail outlets, including a paint shop in Australia. Life before retail saw Jo and her husband operate their own business for over 20 years.

Jo divides her time between the Waipapa and Kaikohe stores where she enjoys spending her days with the people she works alongside and the variety of work she does, from helping customers with her paint expertise to assisting with the creation of curtains.

Alex started with the business in 2009 and since then has made a positive impact on many of our customers. He is a master at paint matching, really knows his product, and is our automotive paint specialist.

You will find Alex in the Waipapa store, enjoying interactions and light-hearted banter with our valued customers.

Ian has been part of the team since 2014 and spends most of his time close to home in the Kaikohe store. He pops over to Waipapa each week to mix things up a bit, and along with being an expert in paint and accessories, is our master engraver and key cutter.

Maria joined us in 2021 as our Curtain Consultant based at the Waipapa store, and loves getting out and about to do on-site consultations. Maria’s experience includes a three year diploma in Textiles, Apparel and Manufacture, and two years spent as a Curtain Consultant in Queenstown. Maria’s career has predominantly been in the creative arts space, as a professional landscape artist and ceramicist.

Maria enjoys exploring ideas with customers and assisting them to choose fabrics and textures that work best with their taste, space and budget.
